Fitbit's Personal Health Coach, powered by Gemini AI, will soon be able to understand the user's medical records and create personalized guidance based on these data. The company's most significant update will deliver a 15% increase in sleep stage accuracy across compatible Pixel and Fitbit devices, and will also differentiate between when you're trying to sleep and when actually asleep. This will enable a revamped Sleep Score, which will focus on how much time it took you to get that sleep, rather than how much sleep it took. In April, US Fitbit subscribers will also be allowed to link their medical records, such as medications, lab results, and doctor visit history, in the Fitbit app. Privacy experts have cautioned against uploading medical information into an AI tool, as these are not a replacement for a doctor. Google also announced that it is investing in health research on topics such as predicting insulin resistance using data collected by wearables, hypertension, and learning more about how AI performs in virtual care settings.
