The US Department of the Treasury has launched a whistleblower portal to combat transnational fraud, urging whistleblowers to report alleged abuse of Medicare, Medicaid, and other government health benefit programs. The agency detailed the process of creating fake health care providers, employing cover people to pose as owners and stealing the personal data of actual beneficiaries. The funds are then laundered through financial transactions.
