The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the airman, who is in stable condition, was taken to a hospital. Stewart's aunt, Aina Stewart, described her as a vibrant, happy person who enjoyed outdoors and loved spending time in nature. The shooting reportedly stemmed from an "isolated incident" that occurred between Stewart and an unidentified airman. The base was placed on lockdown around 5:30 p.m.
