Mass State Police Sgt. Jennifer Penton has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in relation to the 2024 death of trooper trainee Enrique Delgado-Garcia. Penton and three other troopers were indicted by a grand jury on charges related to physical exercise and involuntary manslaughter. The case was investigated by Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell and led to the death of Delgado Garcia during a boxing match at the academy. All four officers have been suspended with pay and an internal affairs investigation into the handling of the crash. After the indictment was announced, several stories were published about Penton's role in another case involving now-indicted State Police Sergeant Scott Quigley.
