Oklahoma and national lawmakers are considering legislation to enhance election integrity, including mandatory photo ID requirements for photo ID and citizenship proof requirements. The state and national level of Congress are also considering measures to ensure election integrity. One bill proposed by Representative Jim OLSEN, HB 1005, proposes requiring a photo ID for voting, starting in 2027, but another by Congress in DC would require service from the state elections board to create a Photo ID VOTER CARD. Other measures include the SAVE Act or the SAFEGUARD AMERICAN VOTer ELIGIBILITY Act, which would require voters to prove their citizenship by presenting a U.S. PASSPORT, a BIRTH CERTIFICATE, a NATURALIZATION CERTIFIEDATE, or an ID PROVING CITIZENSHIP. However, the BRENNAN CENTER for Justice says this would lower voter numbers across the country. The legislation also requires mandatory registration and mandatory photo proof for voting.
