North Dakota police have admitted to making a mistake when they arrested a Tennessee grandmother for fraud based on a facial recognition program that uses artificial intelligence. Angela Lipps, who was held for five months and lost her home, car, and dog, is considering legal action against the police department. Now-retired Fargo Police Chief Dave Zibolski has admitted mistakes but fell short of apologizing to Lipp's. He blamed the West Fargo Police Department for purchasing an artificial intelligence program without informing the Fargo police. The program has been prohibited from police use and Ziboliski has implemented additional restrictions on the use of such software.
