The opening of a bar called the Situation Room by prediction app market Polymarket, a play on the "monitoring the situation" meme, has been marred by technical issues at the grand opening of the bar. The bar was not fully functional, with no working screens and no televisions. However, Wired's D.C. reporter Makena Kelly reported that after waiting outside for nearly an hour and a half due to technical issues, none of the TVs were working. A PR firm called Global Situation Room sent a cease and desist letter to Polymarket shortly after the bar's opening, citing "obvious overlaps" in the uses of both the two platforms.
