Las Vegas city engineers are investigating the effectiveness of adding crossing guards outside more high schools in the 2026-2027 school year. The city added crossing guards to five additional high schools, totaling 9 high schools. The new schools include Clark High School, Palo Verde High School and Arbor View High School. Ravi Seera, Deputy Director of Public Works and City Traffic Engineer with the City of Las Vegas, explained that crossing guards were effective during the pick-up and drop-off times, helping students and overall safety. Engineers are still looking for data outside the new schools, including how many students cross the street daily and drivers comply with the crossing guards' directions.
