New hemp regulations in Texas are set to take effect at the end of March, changing how THC is measured and updating licensing rules. The changes are expected to affect hemp retailers across the state. Local shops like Full Spectrum, which sells THCA products, which represent 35 to 50 percent of their sales, may have to remove these products due to the cost of running the business. The new regulations also require an updated testing process that counts THCA as part of “Total THC”, the combination of Delta-9 THC and THCA, the natural compound in hemp, to determine if products are legal. Allen Kirk from Full Spectrum expressed concern about consumer safety and potential loss of customers' access to smokeable products. The company will comply with the new rules and products that meet the new THC limits will remain available to customers.
