Nearly 300 apartments will add to transformation of Northgate Mall area

A Charlotte developer, The Spectrum Cos., has begun construction on a new apartment project called Vara Trinity Park, which will bring nearly 300 units to the area near the shuttered Northgate Mall in Durham. The project will be divided among three buildings and around 20% of the units will be set aside for those making 60% of their area median income. This comes as part of a larger effort to include affordable housing at the former mall.
