A Massachusetts man, Mark Opper, is accused of murdering his wife, Diane, after telling a 911 operator that his gun "went off," causing her to die. Opper is charged with murder and assault and battery on a family or household member. Police responded to a home on Daniel Shays Highway on March 27 after Opper called 911 claiming his gun went off. Diane Opper was found with multiple gunshot wounds to her torso and later declared dead at Baystate Wing Hospital. An officer found a pistol with the magazine removed and an unused bullet lying next to the gun inside the home, and bullet casings were found near the victim's body.
