Northern Ireland drew 1-1 with Wales in a friendly match, with manager Michael O'Neill praising his team's character and resilience. Both Wales and Northern Ireland lost their respective World Cup play-offs. O'Neil also addressed concerns about a conflict of interest with his dual role with Blackburn Rovers. He handed a debut to 19-year-old defender Tom Atcheson, but not Liverpool's Kieran Morrison made his senior bow.
