Transamerica has warned of a retirement crisis in the United States, highlighting rising costs, fragile job security, and stretched budgets as key issues affecting retirement plans. Fewer than six in 10 U.S. residents (59%) believe they are building a large enough retirement nest egg, with confidence in achieving a comfortable retirement remaining at 66%. While non-retired adults surveyed, saving for retirement rose from 65% to 69% over the five-year period. Only 15% of Americans are optimistic about their future amid the rapid pace of economic, technological, and social change. Nearly half of Americans who are not yet retired worry that AI and robotics will make their job skills obsolete. The report suggests that standard retirement from working Americans should be 10 times their final salary saved by age 67.
