The two Republican candidates running for California governor had an awkward moment during a debate when moderator Kaitlan Collins asked about one of them calling the other a "swindler," referring to Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco and former Fox News commentator Steve Hilton. Collins asked Bianco if he was telling Republican voters not to trust Hilton, who had previously referred to him as "unethical and dishonest" and "manipulating" Californians. The two candidates have split the Republican voter base, dividing support within the party. A recent survey showed Hilton and Bianco tied for first place with 18 percent and 14 percent respectively.
