A study by Stanford Medicine has found that a naturally made molecule, BRP, could mimic the effects of the popular weight loss drug, Semaglutide. The 12-amino-acid peptide acts as a potent appetite suppressant, but functions through a distinct brain pathway. The discovery was made using artificial intelligence to scan all 20,000 human protein-coding genes and identify where these molecules could be cut into peptides.
