EU launches operations of critical minerals procurement platform

The European Union has launched the critical minerals section of its energy and materials procurement platform, aimed at reducing dependence on dominant producer China. The platform connects buyers with suppliers but leaves the two parties to finalise trades. This move is part of the RESourceEU strategy, announced in December to develop its supply chains for rare earths and other strategic minerals. The first round of connections will begin on April 13 and the results will be announced in September.
