A technical exploit of the blockchain token bridge, Hyperbridge, led to the creation of 1 billion Polkadot (DOT) tokens valued above $1.1 billion. However, the tokens were only worth around $237,000 due to limited liquidity. The exploit was caused by a flaw in the protocol's proof verification logic, which allowed the attacker to gain administrative control of the bridged DOT contract on the Ethereum blockchain. The tokens were then sold on decentralized exchanges, making away with around $239,000. The incident raises concerns about the security of the Deaedaed protocols, following a recent loss of over $285 million to a North Korean-linked hacker.
