Central Ohio home sales shift to the suburbs

The Central Ohio housing market is shifting away from cities, with sales moving to the suburbs as prices continue to increase. The February housing report by Columbus Realtors found flat demand and increasing inventory in the region. Sales in Franklin County dropped but increased in most surrounding counties. The average and median sales prices increased around 5%. Average time spent on the market is up 14% year-over-year to 49 days. Despite this, there is not enough housing stock for the growing population in the area. Realtor president Gloria Alonso Cannon believes that a healthy market exists in Central Ohio, allowing buyers to be choosier than in previous years.
