Foreign investors threaten legal action against Vietnam over renewables, document says

Foreign investors may take legal action against Vietnam if it does not fully pay electricity tariffs agreed with multiple wind and solar projects, according to a document signed by five chambers of commerce. The issue arose after lengthy negotiations with affected investors, who run projects with a combined capacity of 12 gigawatts. The chambers from the European Union, Britain, Japan, South Korea and Thailand have sent a joint letter to the government requesting an amicable resolution. The high tariffs increased losses for state-owned power utility EVN and increased power prices for households and factories.
