Professor Dan Vimont from the University of Wisconsin-Madison has predicted that a'super' El Niño, predicted that the global temperature record will be broken in 2027. This is due to an extra strong El Niño warming pattern this year, which some have coined as a "super" El Niño". The professor explained that the Pacific Ocean, which produces the most significant El Niño event, affects a significant part of our climate system. The most noticeable effect is a likely warmer winter, which can affect Wisconsin's economy, recreation and environmental health. The warmer winters are also harmful for lakes that rely on annual freezing over to recycle oxygen.
