Burr Ridge Upset With Trump On Sterigenics-Type Pollution

The federal government is working towards easing regulations for pollutants such as ethylene oxide, a pollutant produced by Sterigenics, which was accused of emitting it for years before closing due to environmental concerns. The Burr Ridge Village Board plans to vote on a resolution on this issue, stating that it would be "devastating" to public health. The resolution argues that more than 14 million people live within 5 miles of an affected facility are at risk of exposure to the pollutant. In 2023, Sotero Health Co., the parent company of Steragenic, will pay $408 million for over 870 cases related to the pollution.
