Microsoft has announced plans to invest $10 billion in Japan between 2026 and 2029 to develop an artificial intelligence infrastructure in the country. The move comes as demand for cloud and AI services grows in Japan, with around one in five working-age people using generative AI tools compared to the global average of about one in six. The announcement was made during a visit to Japan by Microsoft's Vice Chair and President Brad Smith.
