2 juveniles arrested after gunfire, pursuit in Clovis

Two juveniles were arrested following reports of gunfire and subsequent arrests in Clovis, New Mexico, following a shootout in which police received three calls reporting gunshots. The driver of a silver Cadillac evaded a traffic stop and fled, leading to a brief pursuit which was terminated due to public safety concerns. Police found firearms in the vehicle, including a device that converts a handgun into an automatic weapon. The 17-year-old driver was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon conversion device, conspiracy, shooting at or from a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of handgun by a minor, resisting, evading or obstructing an officer, aggravated driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and possession of alcoholic beverages in open containers. An adult male, Luciano Rodriguez, was also taken into custody on an unrelated felony arrest warrant. Both juveniles were transported to the Bernalillo County Juvenile Detention Center.
