Ohio State's 165-pounder, Paddy Gallagher, won his first national tournament without a major injury in recent memory, defeating Illinois' Braeden Scoles 13-4 in the first round of the NCAA Division I tournament at Rocket Arena. This victory was the first time Gallagher has entered an end-of-year tournament where he entered without major injury. Gallagher, who was scheduled to face Penn State's Mitchell Masenbrink in the second round, was pleased with his performance, despite not being able to face him in the tournament's first round. He credits his victory to a large crowd of fans from his alma mater (St. Edward) and his hometown in Chester Township.
