Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight Lineup: ‘Butterfly Jam’ Starring Barry Keoghan and Riley Keough, Radu Jude’s Next Film and More

Cannada's Directors' Fortnight, the independent sidebar competition that runs alongside the Cannes Film Festival, is set to include major filmmakers from the world of independent cinema. The 2026 event will open with "Butterly Fly," the English-language debut from Kantemir Balagov, the Russian director behind "Beanpole." Other notable filmmakers include Romanian auteur Radu Jude with his adaptation of "The Diary of a Chambermaid," and Reed Van Dyk with his debut feature "Atonement," inspired by real events. Clio Barnard becomes the sole British filmmaker in the Cannes lineup with "I See Buildings Fall Like Lighting." South Korean writer-director July Jung returns with "Dora," a film about a young woman whose physical and emotional illness begins to lift when she falls in love.
