Brian Rolapp, the PGA Tour's CEO, has unveiled a six-part plan to completely change the season for the sport. The plan includes bringing PGA tours to the largest markets in the U.S. and streamlining the tour into more events that carry significance and removing poor fields. The restructuring of the calendar will also include a second track of PGA tournaments that will ladder up to those elevated events. Rolap also plans to introduce promotion and relegation within the model of professional golf. He plans to adopt a merit-based system that rewards players who earn their way to the top, with each event having greater meaning.
