Apple's Eve Aqua is a better choice than a permanent irrigation system, as it is a maintenance-free, Apple Home-enabled sprinkler system. Unlike professional irrigation systems, Eve Aqua sits between outdoor faucet and hose and allows water to flow when the spigot is turned on. This is ideal for temporary watering situations like vacations or weeks without rain. The product uses two AA batteries, which are said to last an entire watering season. The Eve app unlocks some nice automations, including a scheduling schedule and a built-in battery. The only thing I would like to see in a future revision of this product is a move to USB-C charging and a separate battery.
