Madrid-based Latido Films has sold the rights for Colombian supernatural thriller “The Awakening” (“El Despertar), which premiered at the Guadalajara Film Festival. The film was created, written and directed by Jaime Osorio Marquez, who passed away before completing the film. Melidora Media acquired rights for the CIS territories, while Superfine acquired for SAARC, which includes India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Co-creator and producer Federico Durán of Rhayuela Films and director José Luis Rugeles Gracia completed the completion of the film alongside the original creative team. The story follows an elite military unit sent to eliminate a target and encounters a guardian spirit in the Amazon.
