Two tourism efforts based in Fairfax, Virginia, have received grants to support tourism marketing efforts and local economies across the state. The grants are part of the Virginia Tourism Corp.'s Marketing Leverage and Destination Marketing Organization Marketing Programs. Local partners will contribute $4.3 million to match the grant funds, generating $6.5 million in new marketing and event production initiatives. The awards will affect 858 localities, businesses and organizations partnering with the tourism corporation. The Virginia Tourism Corporation's programs aim to pair local marketing investments with state funds, support tourism promotion efforts and stimulate overnight stays and visitor spending.
