The Austin Blues Festival, formerly known as Psych Fest, had a successful three-year run and successfully reinvented its approach to a contemporary blues showcase. The festival included performances from artists such as Parliament-Funkadelic, Jimmie Vaughan, Chaparelle, and Los Amigos Invisibles. The event was held at Moody Amphitheater and expanded its mission to celebrate all corners of American music. The Black Pumas' lead singer Julio "Chulius" Briceño led the band with Latin-infused, synthy acid jazz, while Adrian Quesada's collaborators included bassist Terin Ector, drummer Jay Mumford, and keyboardist Joshy Soul. Eric Johnson won several awards over his four-decade career, including bassist Daniel Kimbro and drummer Kimbro. Kimbo Johnson gave a masterful solo performance showcasing his technical skills.
