The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Atlanta Braves 8-5, marking the end of a 10-game losing streak. Zack Wheeler returned to the field for the first time since August 2025 after undergoing surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome. He threw 84 pitches and allowed just two earned runs in his five innings, striking out six and increasing velocity on his fastball. The surgery required a rib to be removed and addressed a blood clot near his right shoulder. The team is now focusing on making up some of the 9.5-game deficit it faces in the early going of the 2026 season as it attempts to catch the Braves.
