Brett Gardner’s family sues resort one year after death of 14-year-old son Miller

Former Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner and his family have filed a federal court lawsuit against the Costa Rican hotel where their 14-year-old son, Miller, died from carbon monoxide inhalation. The lawsuit alleges that the defendants failed to comply with basic safety standards and is seeking damages for gross negligence, emotional distress, vicarious liability, breach of warranty, and loss of filial consortium. The family was vacationing in Costa Rica when Miller and other members of the family became ill and died the following day. The law firm, Motley Rice, alleges that other guests who stayed in the same rooms at the resort also experienced illnesses.
