'Acts of kindness are key during Ramadan'

Millions of Muslims are marking Ramadan, a period of abstinence, reflection and charitable acts until 19 March. Observers will fast from dawn until Iftar, the day's main meal at sunset. Muslim communities in the south of England have shared their thoughts on the holy month. PC Abdullah Ahmed from Slough believes his performance increases during Ramadan, as well as his team captain Jabir Abdalla who experiences increased focus and awareness. Mehmet Ulucan, owner of Mehmet Kitchen in Portsmouth, who has served free meals during the period, said acts of kindness are key.
