The UK government is to blame for the Southport Murders of 17-year-old Axel Rudakubana, a teenager who murdered three young girls and attempted to murder eight more, and attacked two adults who tried to stop him. The attack sparked days of nationwide rioting and widespread social unrest. The public inquiry into the killings described it as one of the "most egregious crimes in British history" in history. The inquiry report, which ran to 760 pages, criticises RudakUBana's parents' failure to report their son to the authorities regarding his violent tendencies and his obsession with violence. Despite this, the inquiry found that at least six state bodies could have taken action to prevent the murders. Rudakobana had been expelled from his previous school and was warned that he posed a high risk and should be searched for knives regularly. His history of violence and obsession with violent atrocities was also known to authorities.
