Laredo utilities department says pressure improving as crews address weeks-long water problem

Residents in the Winfield, Shiloh, and Alexander neighborhoods have been experiencing low water pressure for weeks. Utility leaders attributed the problem to a broken 24-inch valve and ongoing construction on Loop 20. District 5 Council Member Ruben Gutierrez placed the issue on the agenda after receiving a high volume of calls from residents. Utility crews have been monitoring lines around the clock and are now running system-balancing trials through November. The city is also asking residents to water lawns during off-peak hours.
