Jermaine Vassell, the co-owner of Jay's Nyam and Jam, has opened a Jamaican-inspired restaurant near Findlay Market in Cincinnati. The restaurant serves Jamaican cuisine, including jerk chicken, snapper and oxtail, and is located across the street from the market. The owners initially started selling small dinners and catering out of their home before expanding into a full-time business. They discovered the Findlay Kitchen program, a non-profit food business incubator near the market, which enabled them to open a stand outside the market and expand their catering efforts. Along their journey to opening a brick-and-mortar, their food has been recognized at Taste of Cincinnati, the region's yearly food festival where chefs compete to win coveted ‘Best of Taste’ awards.
