Killing Khamenei Won’t Be Decisive in Defeating Iranian Regime, Former Diplomats Warn

The death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the death of his son, Mojtaba, is unlikely to lead to an overthrow of Iran's Islamic Republic, according to a panel of former Middle East diplomats and analysts at the Brookings Institution. The panel noted that since seizing control of the nation in 1979, the regime has had a long line of hardline leaders ready to assume leadership.
