This behavior has been echoed by musicians who have criticized airlines for their handling of damaged instruments. This incident occurred at LAX and Ruiz was not aware of who the cases belonged to. This makes a strong case for musicians to have their guitars in a seat rather than being checked. In the future, guitarists Emily Wolfe and Madi Diaz have publicly criticized airlines, particularly Southwest Airlines, for their behavior.
