Slain Officer Identified In Chicago Hospital Shooting

A Chicago police officer identified as 57-year-old veteran officer, Thomas Bartholomew, was shot and killed at Swedish Hospital, where he was receiving treatment. The suspect was in custody for an unrelated incident when he used a gun to shoot both officers, killing Barthollomew and seriously injuring another officer. The shooter fled but was later apprehended and is now in custody. Police have not yet released the suspect's identity or charges in connection to the killing. The shooting occurred around 10:50 a.m. Saturday and Swedish Hospital was closed but reopened as of around 5 p.m., with the remaining officer in critical condition.
