The state Supreme Court will hear a lawsuit against Missouri's new congressional maps in May. The ACLU of Missouri and The Campaign Legal Center argue that the lower court's decision to implement the legislation before voters can vote on it violates a century of judicial precedent. The new map targets the 5th congressional district in the Kansas City metro and moves the area west of 71 Highway to congressional district 4, currently represented by Republican U.S. Representative Mark Alford. The lawsuit accuses the ruling of being unlawful and ignoring voters' constitutional rights.
