During Ohio's Severe Weather Awareness Week, a statewide tornado drill will take place on March 18, 2026. Warning signs will be activated for three minutes, longer than the usual tone heard during the weekly tornado tests. This allows schools, businesses, and residents to practice their emergency response procedures. In 2025, Ohio experienced slightly above the average amount of 22 statewide tornadoes, a far cry from the record-setting pace of 74 tornadoes in 2024. Franklin County Emergency Management and Homeland Security recommends all central Ohio residents to prepare for all types of severe weather, including tornadoes and flooding.
