Homewood-Flossmoor's Jalen Webb led the team to a 7-6 nonconference victory over Mount Carmel in 9 innings. Webb was the hero twice, scoring two runs in the ninth and with three RBIs. Despite initially struggling to create contact during his first two plate appearances, Webb remained optimistic and had faith in his training. Senior pitcher Cormac Saunders also contributed to the win. Webb's performance was praised by his coach Marcus Rodgers for his hard work and confidence. The junior right fielder was introduced as a standout by his father, an amateur bodybuilder.
