Researchers from the University of Connecticut and Tufts University have found that air purifiers can significantly protect your brain from toxic pollutants, particularly those from nearby traffic. The study, which focused on adults living near major roadways, found that while real HEPA filtration was used, cognitive performance improved by about 12 percent among adults 40 and older. The researchers also found that HEPA filters reduced indoor particle pollution by over 50 percent, and that even if not near major roadway, these purifiers are effective in protecting your lungs and brain.
