Catalina Foothills students present deep learning history projects to Pima County leaders

Canyon View Elementary students from the Catalina Foothills have presented their history projects to the Pima County Board of Supervisors. The students, who spent three months working on Tucson history projects, emphasized the importance of critical thinking over memorization and time management. The project was led by Canyon View’s Gifted Specialist Samantha “Tessa” Thompson. Students interviewed community members and examined old photographs to create an on six topics, including Hotel Congress and El Presidio. They presented their findings to the board.
