Southern Colorado sophomore aims for smallbore and air rifle medals at Junior World Cup

Kelsey Dardas, a 15-year-old sophomore at Fountain-Fort Carson High School, is set to compete at the 2026 ISSF Junior World Cup in Cairo, Egypt. She will compete in smallbore and air rifle events as part of USA Shooting’s junior national team. Her father, an ammunition warrant officer at Fort Carson and longtime competitive shooter, introduced her to the sport and coached her early development. She has set 17 national records, won Junior Olympic titles in air rifle and smallbores, and is currently sixth in the nation in women’�s smallborative among competitors of all ages. Despite the significant costs, a GoFundMe campaign and local support have helped offset expenses.
