Judge Rejects Bid To Block Lenox Hill Homeless Shelter From Opening

A New York County Supreme Court Justice Sabrina Kraus has rejected a bid by the Board of Managers of Bridge Tower Place Condominium to prevent the opening of a controversial women's homeless shelter on First Avenue. The decision removes a temporary restraining order against the project, allowing it to proceed. The new shelter would temporarily house up to 200 women and employ around 78% of them at the time. The condo board had argued that the city failed to properly study the shelter's environmental impacts and sought to prevent it from opening. However, the judge ruled that the challenge was too late due to the timing of the decision.
