More than a dozen flights were cancelled at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in Carolina due to severe weather across the United States. The disruption affected American Airlines, Frontier, JetBlue, and Spirit Airlines, with routes connecting to Pennsylvania, Illinois, Florida, New York and Texas affected. Additional disruptions are due to staffing shortages at airports across the country due to the ongoing partial shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security (TSA), which has left the Transportation Security Administration without full funding. Federal officials have warned that smaller U.S. airports could potentially shut down due to a shortage of security personnel.
