NASA is preparing to launch astronauts around the moon for the first time in over 50 years. The Artemis II mission will take four crew members, including NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Christina Koch and Victor Glover, and Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen, on a 10-day journey that will first orbit Earth then circle the moon. The mission, named Artemis II, will be the first for NASA's Space Launch System rocket and Orion capsule to carry humans into space. If successful, it will further strengthen NASA's goal of establishing a long-term presence on the lunar surface. The rocket was designed to use components from NASA's retired space shuttle program and was built in large part by longtime NASA partners and space shuttle contractors. The crew arrived at the Kennedy Space Center ahead of their planned launch.
