Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers have been working at airports to assist with long security lines due to staff shortages and ongoing investigations into the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shutdown. The agents were spotted scanning passenger IDs at LaGuardia Airport Terminal B and wearing "Enforcement and Removal Operations" patches indicating they are part of the agency's deportation unit. The TSA has been dealing with hours-long lines as many employees have refused to work without pay during the 40-day shutdown. President Trump plans to sign an executive order forcing DHS to pay TSA employees during the shutdown. It is unclear how long ICE will continue to assist TSA at airports.
