Lake County Council candidates discuss challenges of SEA1

Two Lake County Council races have seen strong Democratic challengers, with three current council members finishing their last terms. Councilman Dave Hamm, D-1st, and Ted Bilski are running for their seats. Christina Signorelli, a realtor and vice president for the Lake County Democrats, is running against City of Hammond Chief of Staff Scott Miller for Hamm's position. Miller, who previously served as the Superintendent for the School City of Hammers, aims to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent wisely, transparently, and with long-term stability in mind. Four candidates are challenging District 2 incumbent Ron Brewer Sr. in Gary, Griffith, and parts of Highland, with one focusing on making the 2nd more of a transportation hub. Norman Hairston, a retired engineer and businessman, said he wants to bring his expertise to the council.
